Written by three of the most influential authors of the reptile community. Philippe de Vosjoli owns the publishing company, founded the magazine The Vivarium and owns giantgeckos.com. Allen Repashy has the largest collection of Rhacodactylus geckos in the world, owns Sunfire Dragon Ranch and T-Rex. Allen developed the most widely used Superfoods diet for the Rhacodactylus species. Frank Fast had multiple expeditions to New Caledonia and collected a number of giant geckos as well as rough-snouted geckos which produce offspring each year.

There are many contributors to the book, which names are well known in the industry such as Kevin Dunne (Dragons Den Herpetoculture), Noe Perez (Noah's Boas), Richard Spekner (Pet'acular Exotics), and Philip Tremper (Tremper's Lizard Ranch). Photography contributors include Bill Love (Blue Chameleon Photography) and David Northcott (Nature's Lens)

Almost 300 pages of information regarding the care and husbandry of Crested Geckos, Chahoua, Gargoyle Geckos, Giant Geckos, Rough-Snouted Geckos and Sarasinorum. It is the most comprehensive book on the species to date. The leachianus section is broken down into two sections for Grande Terre and Henkeli with detailed information and pictures of all the different localities including Allen Repashy's Snowflake line and information regarding sex determination with macro lens photographs. It is without question why the community refers to this book as the "Rhac Bible".

Originally published in Germany this was the first book available in the United States for the Rhacodactylus species. Written by two of the most established authors from Europe. You will find that this book provides more basic information such as tree top elevation chart for dark morph, henkeli, and the different species comprised in the genus, temperature sex determination, climate of different localities, and localities for the different species.

For the leachianus section there is basic information on the dark morph of Grande Terre and Henkeli found on Pine Island. A great picture of a hatchling revealing the egg tooth is also in the Grande Terre section. A basic book with a very different approach than that of the previous book by Repashy, de Vosjoli and Fast but a must have for any Rhacodatylus enthusiast.

Travel along with Philippe de Vosjoli and Frank Fast on the very first endeavor to New Caledonia and the satellite islands. One of the very first trips, so early that the islands were not given names. One of the most humorous articles I have read. Reading this piece now hints at what specimens were collected and from where.

R. leachianus leachianus, R. leachianus henkeli and even trachyrhynchus are noted in the article. Some interesting occurrences they came across like the close relation of the leachianus and trachyrhynchus, the elevation and easy access to the trees. This article is an informational time capsule allowing the reader to see how the Rhacodactylus species made it's way to the reptile hobby.
